This is a good question.
Grounding connects you to the physical dimension you operate in.
It connects your body to the earth and brings physical and emotional balance. Sounds a bit out there, doesn't it? But it's really not. As spiritual light-workers, we can sometimes feel disconnected or flighty, scattered, lightheaded, vague or spacey. By grounding, we ensure we stay in the now and are not off with the fairies, if you know what I mean. Grounding has a lot of other benefits as well. It can be beneficial if you're tired or overwhelmed. It can increase your vibration and give you an energy boost.
Grounding can be as complicated or uncomplicated as you choose to make it. Below I share with you a few techniques to become grounded.
The best thing is to work out what suits you. I like to do a 10min mindfulness meditation and a 10min grounding meditation each morning before I do a lot of spiritual work. I find these mini-meditations very good for calming the mind, relaxing and grounding. It also has the added benefit of getting you ready for your day.
NATURE
Your grounding techniques can be as easy as spending time in nature. Try going barefoot. Feel the texture of the earth beneath you. Be in the now, and listen to what is around you, e.g., birds, wind, animals, waves. This allows you to become present. Fill up your energetic cups.
HOUSEWORK OR EVERYDAY CHORES
I know people who go off after spiritual work and clean their houses. When cleaning your toilet, it is hard to be off with the fairies. Doing these physical chores will help ground you.
MEDITATIONS
You can be like me and do mini grounding meditations or find a longer one that suits you; there are plenty on youtube. Some meditations have you rooting your feet deep into the earth and drawing up beautiful golden energy. Grounding meditations help you feel more aligned and rooted in your own skin. Crystals are your allies. They can help clear blockages and support positive energy flow from the earth to your root chakra. There are a few different crystals that are good for grounding, but I am only going to mention a few. You can wear these crystals as jewellery or have them in your home.
BLACK OBSIDIAN Connected with the root chakra and also helps to negate negative energy.
RED JASPER Connect us to our root and sacral chakra. It is also connected to our higher self and enhances self-belief.
HEMATITE Known as the stone for the mind. It helps you to organise, stay focused and control your reactions to make healthy decisions.
EXERCISE
This can be any exercise, from swimming to dancing. It is any kind that involves movement. This is great for your health and for keeping you in the moment.
I have heard of other ways to ground, such as being in the water or salt baths and serving others. The thing here is to find what is right for you. Grounding is essential for people who do spiritual work or are in the midst of a spiritual awakening. Like always, take what works for you and leave the rest. I hope some of this resonated with you.
